Your body is yours

Learn It. Love It. Protect It.

I am Aja Imani. I am a birth worker and an educator. My favorite thing to do is build community with young folks. I facilitate “Flo Functions” for young Black people who bleed. I support parents in their journeys through pregnancy and early parenthood. I create conversations and spaces. I believe that everyone deserves to know that your body belongs to YOU.

I am here to make sure young girls and women have all the resources and support they need to love and protect their bodies -- from menstruating without shame or stigma (Flo Functions!), to having healthy pregnancies and births, to safely raising their children into adulthood.

I feel like you can tell a lot about a person based on their vision for the world so here is mine:

I along with many others have dreamt of a world where Black people grow up with full body sovereignty. In this worlds there is no shame. No lack of knowledge. No abuse. There is pleasure and joy and community and rest and Big Love. Everyday I do one thing within my power to bring us closer to that dream world, and since you’re here reading this, it’s safe to assume that you agree.

Even if only a little bit.

What all of this means, together is that the reproductive health and bodily sovereignty of women and girls -- and especially black women and girls -- matters to me. That’s why I do this work.

→ If you’re a parent of a daughter or gender non-conforming kid who bleeds, a Flo Function for them and their friends is a joyous, informative way to celebrate a first period.

→ Want to bring a menstrual education workshop to your school or organization?

→ Looking for a birth support worker for a young mom?

→ Want to sponsor the swag bags for Flo Functions (10-15 year olds) and Your Body is YOURS workshops (16+)?

If any of the options above sound like your jam, please hit the button below and reach out to me. I look forward to connecting soon.
